Studio 2108 is excited to launch a new website for Shakespeare Festival St. Louis!
This project was a collaboration with Kiku Obata & Company: they designed the look of each page and we developed a completely custom theme based on those designs using WordPress. We developed 50+ custom pages and the client still has full control over text and image changes. They love how easy it is to update!
There are some unique features of this WordPress site that were a challenge from a development standpoint. The top of the website pulls in the current weather conditions in St. Louis, which was achieved by parsing an RSS feed from Yahoo! Weather. The homepage pulls in both a Youtube and Twitter feed to keep interested visitors up to date with their social networks. The homepage jquery slideshow is also a little different than usual: when you roll your mouse over the image, it show the credits of the image and pauses so you can read the text.
A new feature with this website re-design is the ability for visitors to sign up for camps and classes online. We created forms that connect to a third-party merchant service so payments go directly to Shakespeare St. Louis.
